Belgian Blue Stone (reclaimed) Description
Designation:
Reclaimed blue stone pavers. Petit Granit or crinoidal limestone
Origin:
Belgium, Provinces of Hainaut, Liège, and Namur. Basins of Soignies, Ourthe-Amblève, and Bocq,
Description:
Compact crinoidal limestone with a grey-blue hue.
Appearance:
Whether cleft or patinated, the stone exhibits shades of color that depend on the size of the crinoid remnants and the abundance of the binder. The stone contains white veins and fossils. The fossils give fresh breaks sparkling facets in the light. Crinoids, corals, and shells appear light against a dark background, varying, depending on the finish, from light grey to black, including a bluish range. The stone lightens when exposed to weathering, due to superficial leaching of intercalated carbon.
The general appearance and shades may vary depending on the batch
