  • Low walls

Facades, garden walls, garden decoration

Designation:

Petit Granit; Bluestone; Crinoidal Limestone

Origin:

Belgium, basins of Soignies, Ourthe-Amblève, Condroz and Bocq. Provinces of Hainaut, Liège and Namur.

Description:

Compact crinoidal limestone of gray-blue hue, of upper Tournaisian stratigraphic age.

Appearance:

Cleaved or weathered, the stone displays shade variations that depend on the size of crinoid remains and the abundance of binding material. The stone contains white veins and fossils. The fossils give fresh fractures sparkling facets in the light. Crinoids, corals and shells appear light against a dark background varying, depending on the finish, from light gray to black through a bluish range. The stone lightens upon exposure to weathering, through superficial leaching of intercalated carbon. While the visible face of the rubble stone will always be cleaved (natural), certain sides may present a sawn surface.

The general appearance and shades may vary depending on the batch

Some stones may display black spots (see photo above).

Applications:

Highly valued for its ability to be produced in numerous formats and finishes, bluestone is used for both interior and exterior applications: facade cladding, window surrounds, floor covering, etc.

Tolerance applicable from the limits of the nominal dimension ranges (min. and max.): 1 cm
